Orthodontics
Invisible Orthodontics - Clear aligners
This is a treatment that is carried out using successive invisible braces called clear aligners also called “trays” (usually made from silicone), which are difficult to see from the outside because they are transparent.
Each aligner remains in the oral cavity for about 10 days and is then replaced by the next one. The total number of aligners required to complete the treatment depends on the severity and difficulty of each case. These aligners are made abroad by three-dimensional impressions or scans of the patient's mouth and teeth with a computer so that they correct the teeth step by step from the initial state to the final state, as designed.
The aligners have to be used about 20 hours a day and their great advantage is their extremely discreet appearance.
Their use requires attending special seminars which have been successfully completed by the orthodontist in our practice.

Invisible Orthodontics – Inside braces/Lingual braces
Inside braces or lingual braces are one of the most advanced cosmetic orthodontic treatments. They are the alternative to the placement of traditional external braces.
All kinds of orthodontic problems can be treated without anyone noticing that you are wearing "braces"!
Their construction is individualized for each tooth of each patient individually. They are made in a special dental laboratory abroad and their construction material is usually a special gold alloy, which remains the most biocompatible material for the oral cavity. There are no restrictions or contraindications for the use of lingual braces. Patient adaptation is particularly easy due to the small size of the mechanisms. Their only disadvantage is the increased need for oral hygiene.
Their use requires attending special seminars which have been successfully completed by the orthodontist in our practice.

Types of orthodontic mechanisms
There is a wide variety of types of orthodontic appliances - devices used in orthodontic treatment. For each problem there are several types of devices, aiming at the fastest and most effective treatment and the patient's convenience.
Their basic distinction is between removable (i.e. that can be removed by the patient, e.g., dentures, protraction extra-oral arch) and fixed (attached to the teeth).
The basic mechanism is the fixed hooks (brackets) which are welded onto each tooth individually and joined together by a wire (arch) which develop the forces to straighten the teeth. These brackets can be metal, transparent (porcelain or sapphire), or internal (lingual).
Finally, there are transparent aligners which have the ability to adjust the teeth without being visible.
Habits and orthodontics
Certain habits in children, such as sucking a soother or finger sucking (finger to mouth) cause problems in teeth and facial development if they continue after the age of 4. When these habits are stopped in time, any problems in facial or dental development are corrected to some or all extent without further intervention.
If they are not discontinued, usually due to non-cooperation of the young patient, intervention by the orthodontist is required. The orthodontist can help in various ways to stop a harmful habit if it continues after about 6 years of age. If this habit is not stopped with proactive guidance of the young patient, after this age, a removable or fixed orthodontic appliance should be placed intra-orally to stop this habit, as if it persists it can cause various dental and skeletal problems for the child.
Orthodontic problems
Orthodontic problems that need treatment are divided into dental, alveolar, and skeletal:
• Dental problems are those that involve only the position and arrangement of the teeth.
• Alveolar problems are those where the disharmony involves the underlying facial bone, i.e. the part of the jaw on which the teeth rest. Problems of this type are generally more severe, more time-consuming to correct, and usually more effective to treat at younger ages.
- Skeletal problems are those in which the bone base of one or both jaws is to some extent responsible for the abnormality. These are treated either at ages close to the onset of puberty of the patient with conventional orthodontic treatment alone or in cases of adult patients, with a combination of orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery.
